Canadian Tire 2018 Title Sponsor
Prince Albert, SK — The Prince Albert Winter Festival Society announced today that Canadian Tire will be the title sponsor of the 2018 festival. Prince Albert Canadian Tire store owner Malcolm Jenkins is providing $10,000 to sponsor festival events which will run from February 15 to 25.
“This extremely generous donation was very much a surprise,” said society President, Barry Mihilewicz. “But it is a most welcome one that will allow us to present a world class festival.”
“On behalf of the board and the community, we wish to thank Mr. Jenkins for his public-spirited support. It is very fitting that many of the festival events, such as King Trapper, Sled Dog Races, Trade Show, Fish Fry, and Kidz Zone, will be held at the Alfred Jenkins Field House,” noted Mihilewicz.
Jenkins was the lead donor for that facility, which was named in honour of his late father. Jenkins’ contributions to recreational initiatives and the arts are legendary in Prince Albert. He has been honoured with a multitude of awards in recognition of his ability to inspire and mobilize citizens and groups in the community.
Some of these include Citizen of the Year, the Samuel McLeod Legacy Award, the Prince Albert Sports Hall of Fame and the Saskatchewan Order of Merit.
“I am very pleased to be a part of this festival,” said Jenkins. “It is an event that showcases the history and traditions of Prince Albert and northern Saskatchewan, while featuring the phenomenal talent that resides here.”
The 2018 Prince Albert Winter Festival will begin with a prelude event, the 2nd Annual Tux & Toques Gala to be held at the Ches Leach Lounge in the Art Hauser Centre January 20. Tickets for this event may be obtained at the Raider Box Office, with proceeds going to the Raider Education Fund.
